KARACHI – Pakistan defeated Zimbabwe women’s national cricket team by 206 runs in the second match to secure a historic One-Day International series victory. Gull Feroza and Sadaf Shamas scored brilliant centuries, while Sidra Amin remained unbeaten on 59. Captain Fatima Sana led with the ball, taking three wickets.
After Pakistan posted a commanding 343 for 4 in 50 overs, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 137. With the win, Pakistan took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, which is part of the ICC Women’s Championship, adding four valuable points after also winning the first ODI by 168 runs. The third and final match will be played on Saturday.
Playing at National Bank Stadium, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first, once again piling up a mountain of runs by scoring 343 for 4 — the highest total ever recorded at the venue in women’s ODIs.
As in the first match, Gull Feroza and Sadaf Shamas laid a strong foundation with a superb opening partnership of 189 runs. Gull Feroza scored her maiden ODI century, making 100 off 95 balls with 13 fours before being stumped out. Sadaf Shamas then completed her first ODI hundred as well, scoring 101 off 112 balls, including 10 fours and a six.
Aliya Riaz added a quickfire 27 off 14 balls with five boundaries, while Fatima Sana smashed 25 off just 13 deliveries, including a four and two sixes. Sidra Amin remained unbeaten on 59, with Ayesha Zafar finishing not out on 18.
In reply, Zimbabwe had a disastrous start, losing their first wicket at 4 and second at 9, with Christine and Kelly Andrea dismissed for ducks. Run Yaru fought back with an unbeaten 33, while Kels Andy Halo scored 32, Beloved Biza made 29, and Lindo Kohli contributed 20.
Five Zimbabwe batters were dismissed for ducks, while seven failed to reach double figures. Fatima Sana starred with figures of 3 for 15, while Rameen Shamim, Momina Riasat and Syeda Aroob Shah claimed two wickets each. Diana Baig took one wicket, while Gull Feroza was named Player of the Match.
