Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday that Iran has no intention of engaging in conflict with other countries in the region, according to Iranian media.
During a telephone conversation, President Pezeshkian emphasized that if the international community fails to hold those responsible for war accountable, it could pose serious threats to global security and stability.
He reassured Pakistan that Iran seeks no confrontation with regional neighbors.
Prime Minister Sharif expressed concern over the current tensions in the region and highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to diplomatic efforts and negotiations to promote peace and stability.
He stressed that all parties should exercise restraint and responsibility to prevent the situation from deteriorating further.
Sharif also reaffirmed Pakistan’s regard for its historical, religious, and cultural ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran and underlined the country’s desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
“Pakistan is committed to promoting engagement and collaboration with Iran at all levels,” he said.
President Pezeshkian expressed a similar commitment, stating that both nations should work together to achieve peace and stability in the region.
He briefed the Pakistani prime minister on Iran’s perspective regarding recent developments.
The two leaders agreed to maintain ongoing consultation and dialogue to advance shared goals of regional peace, stability, and development.
They also discussed expanding cooperation in various sectors and sustaining high-level contacts between the two countries.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sharif had written to Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, offering condolences on the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and expressing Pakistan’s sympathy and prayers for the Iranian people and the wider Muslim community.
