The caretaker cabinet for Gilgit-Baltistan has been formally constituted, with the issuance of an official notification approving the appointment of 12 ministers and two advisors.
According to the notification, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, in his capacity as Chairman of the Gilgit-Baltistan Council, approved the formation of the caretaker cabinet on the advice of the caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan. The appointments were made under Article 48-A of the Gilgit-Baltistan Order, 2018.
The notification states that 12 members have been appointed as caretaker ministers, while two members have been designated as advisors in the caretaker setup. The newly formed caretaker cabinet will take effect immediately.
The notification was issued on January 2, 2026, and bears the signature of Joint Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Council, Sudher Khan Khattak.
