Both discuss regional situation, agree to translate political understanding into economic, commercial partnership

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday held a telephonic conversation with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, with the latter appreciating “Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic efforts to facilitate dialogue, mediation, and de-escalation” and “acknowledging the importance of these efforts for regional peace and stability.”
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), PM Shehbaz and President Aliyev “exchanged views on the evolving regional and international situation and emphasised the importance of continued consultations and close coordination on issues of mutual interest.”
The PMO’s statement noted that PM Shehbaz “apprised President Aliyev of Pakistan’s sustained diplomatic outreach and constructive efforts to promote peace, dialogue, and de-escalation in the region.”

Discussing bilateral relations, the premier “reaffirmed Pakistan’s deep-rooted, fraternal, and strategic partnership with Azerbaijan, characterised by mutual trust and steadfast support on all issues of core national interest.”
PM Shehbaz also “emphasised that the people of Pakistan held President Aliyev and the brotherly people of Azerbaijan in the highest esteem.”
Reviewing the bilateral ties, “both leaders agreed that their exceptional political understanding must now be translated into a strong economic, investment, and commercial partnership,” the PMO noted.
It added that the two leaders “expressed satisfaction at the growing momentum in their multifaceted cooperation and reaffirmed their shared determination to translate the exceptional political goodwill and understanding into a mutually beneficial economic, investment, and commercial partnership.”

Discussing progress regarding ongoing bilateral initiatives, the PMO noted that PM Shehbaz and President Aliyev “expressed particular satisfaction at the successful operationalisation of the Asaan Khidmat Centre in Islamabad, modelled on Azerbaijan’s ASAN Khidmet service delivery.”
The statement added that the project was described as “a shining example of the practical benefits of their brotherly partnership for the people of Pakistan.”
Further, the PMO noted that as per PM Shehbaz’s request, President Aliyev “graciously agreed to extend Azerbaijan’s full support and expertise towards the expansion of the Asaan Khidmat network across Pakistan.” PM Shehbaz extended his gratitude to the president, describing the gesture “as yet another manifestation of Azerbaijan’s abiding friendship and solidarity with Pakistan.”

According to the PMO, “the conversation concluded with both leaders reiterating their commitment to working closely together to transform their strategic partnership into an enduring relationship of shared progress, prosperity, and mutual benefit for the peoples of the two countries.”
