Tom Brady’s marriage to Gisele Bündchen may have ended in 2022, but a new book claims the cracks appeared years earlier — and that Brady’s final NFL season came with a heavy personal cost.
In Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness, author Lars Anderson revisits the couple’s 13-year marriage and makes several claims about what happened behind the scenes.
One major revelation involves Brady’s 11-day absence from Buccaneers training camp in 2022.
Quarterbacks coach Clyde Christensen recalled being told, “I’ve got to take care of some personal things.” Christensen later said Brady “may have been experiencing a form of psychological shock.”
According to the book, Brady was attempting to save his marriage during that period.

But Anderson claims Bündchen had already made her concerns clear years earlier. In 2018, she allegedly wrote Brady a letter explaining that “their marriage wasn’t working.”
“She needed more of him, more of his time, more of his attention, more of his heart.”
The book says she wanted him “to be present when he was at home,” while also asking for more help with their children and more time for her own career.
A former teammate reportedly said, “She was getting tired of living on Tom’s schedule and being somewhat in his shadow during football season.”
The book also claims Brady lost around 20 pounds amid the stress of his personal life. Former coach Bruce Arians reportedly described the change as “jarring.”
Anderson further claims Brady posted two cryptic messages on social media after Bündchen welcomed her child with Joaquim Valente.
One featured the words “True Love,” while another began, “I really think the secret to being loved is to love.”
According to the book, friends interpreted the posts as indirect messages about the end of his marriage.
As for why Bündchen ultimately walked away, Anderson claims astrology played a role. The book alleges she told Brady, “We’re not compatible.”
Representatives for Brady and Bündchen have not commented on the book’s claims.
