Siraj urges people to right the wrongs on Feb 8 | The Express Tribune

LAHORE:

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq has said that Feb 8, the date on which general elections are scheduled to be held, is the day to correct the mistakes of the nation.

“The country will have to be protected from ineligible and incompetent elites by stamping the scale,” the JI chief said while addressing an election campaign on Sunday.

In the election, Siraj said, there was a competition between the tried and failed political parties and the talented and honest JI.

Firing a broadside at the previous governments, Siraj said: “Everyone is blaming the three former governments for inflation as they had proved to be failures because during their tenures, Pakistan travelled towards degradation rather than progress.”

The JI chief said, “All the three parties believe in the slavery of the IMF (International Monetary Fund) and revenge against the people, but the Jamaat-e-Islami believes only in the service of Allah and serving the nation.”

He told the crowd that the solution to all the problems facing the country was now only the JI. “Peace, justice and prosperity can be guaranteed if the nation stamps the scale.”

“The unrest and inflation in the country have made the life of the people a torment as food, electricity, gas, water bills, petrol, LPG, fertilisers, everything has been removed from the reach of the common man.”

He said that the country’s economy was on the verge of collapse, adding that due to the increase in unemployment, the crime rate had also increased many times.

He promised, “If Jamaat-e-Islami comes to power, reforms in the bureaucracy, police, and justice system will be introduced and unemployment, inflation, and corruption eliminated.”

He said that development in the country is not possible without getting rid of the system given by the British, the current VIP culture and family political parties. He vowed that the JI would succeed in eliminating non-developmental expenditure, spending the savings on the support of orphans and the disabled, as well as providing employment and education to the unemployed youth. “Jamaat-e-Islami will build the economy on Islamic principles by abolishing usury.”
