Swiss police on Monday arrested a suspected gunman who killed two people and injured another in the southern town of Sion.

The victims have been identified: as a 34-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man.

The 36-year-old assailant allegedly harassed the woman, leading to legal proceedings before this tragic incident.

Meanwhile, the man who lost his life was a manager at a local company where the shooter had previously been employed. Additionally, a 49-year-old secretary from the same company suffered injuries in the attack.

For hours, authorities scoured the town, deploying a significant police presence to track down the suspect. The intensive search concluded successfully at 3:43 pm, with regional police arresting the gunman in the St-Leonard area.

The Wallis public prosecutor’s office has launched a murder investigation against the gunman.
