ISLAMABAD:
The first leg of the W15 Islamabad–World Tennis Women’s Futures Tennis Championships 2026 continued, at the PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad.
A total of 30 players from 17 Countries ,France, China, Russia, Denmark, Mexico, Uzbekistan, South Africa, the Netherlands, Korea, Nepal, Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, Thailand, Türkiye, the Czech Republic, and Pakistan are competing in the championship.
Astrid Cirotte of France, currently ranked World No. 624, is the top seed of the tournament.
Top Pakistani Players: Ushna Suhail, Mahin Aftab Qureshi, Meheq Khokhar, Romaisa Malik, and Hajra Sohail are participating in the Championships.
Nine matches were played on the first day of the event.
Ushna and Mahin Create History as First Pakistani Pair to Win a World Tennis Futures Doubles Match
Pakistan’s leading women’s players, Ushna Suhail and Mahin Aftab Qureshi, created history by becoming the first Pakistani pair to win a doubles match at a World Tennis Women’s Futures Tournament.
Competing in the W15 Islamabad–World Tennis Women’s Futures Championships 2026, the Pakistani duo defeated Romaisa Malik (Pakistan) and Nissa Finnigan (South Africa) 6-0,6-0 in the opening round to advance to the second round of the doubles event.
With this historic victory, Ushna and Mahin have not only progressed in the tournament but have also secured valuable WTA ranking points, marking a significant milestone for women’s tennis in Pakistan.
