Prince William skips usual route with cheeky fence climb during Wales visit

Prince William took an unconventional route through the Welsh countryside during his latest engagement, climbing over a wire fence to tackle the region’s flooding problems.

The Prince of Wales was visiting White Castle Farm in South Wales, where he met members of Stump Up For Trees, a community-based environmental charity working to restore native woodland across the region.

William was there to learn more about the charity’s ambitious plan to plant one million native trees in South Wales and how restoring woodland could play a role in tackling the growing risk of flooding.

The royal’s visit came after severe storms affected communities across Monmouthshire, with him also travelling to Skenfrith to hear directly from residents about the impact of recent flooding.

During his time in the village, the Prince spoke to people about the damage caused to their homes, livelihoods and everyday lives, while hearing how local communities are preparing for future storms.

At White Castle Farm, he learned about Stump Up For Trees’ ambitious target of planting one million native trees across South Wales.

The charity is working to restore woodland while helping slow water flow, improve water quality and encourage biodiversity.

William later shared photographs from the visit on Instagram, writing that it was “encouraging” to see communities, farmers and local organisations learning and working together to strengthen flood resilience across Monmouthshire.
