Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) to formulate a comprehensive strategy for providing financial support to small and medium-sized industries and entrepreneurs across the country.
Chairing a meeting in Islamabad today, he said promoting entrepreneurship and ensuring equal facilities and uniform technical assistance in all parts of the country should be among SMEDA’s foremost institutional objectives.
He said the ongoing SMEDA programs aimed at ensuring the participation of women in small and medium-sized industries and businesses should be further expanded.
Shehbaz Sharif said digital platforms should be effectively utilized to provide local entrepreneurs access to national and international markets.
The Prime Minister said SMEDA’s business development strategy should cover the maximum possible number of regions and sectors. He said SMEDA should formulate a strategy comprising special initiatives to organize production and commercial linkages for agricultural commodities.
The meeting was informed that various measures are being taken at every level to strengthen small and medium-sized industries and support entrepreneurs.
