Maria Bartiromo has abruptly departed Fox News and Fox Business after more than 12 years with the network.
“Effective today, Maria Bartiromo is no longer with FOX News Media,” the company said in a statement Thursday, September 3.
“We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter.”
No reason was given for her exit, and Bartiromo has not addressed the departure on social media.
Bartiromo’s programs are already being restructured.
Mornings with Maria, which aired its final episode Thursday, will become Mornings with Fox Business under a rotating cast of hosts.
Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street will be renamed FBN’s Wall Street and hosted this week by Cheryl Casone.
Her Fox News program, Sunday Morning Futures, will be led by former Republican congressman Jason Chaffetz this weekend, with a permanent replacement to be named later.
The sudden nature of the exit drew comparisons to Fox’s abrupt 2023 dismissal of Tucker Carlson, given the network’s typically stable on-air lineup and history of decisive personnel moves.
Deadline reported that, according to sources, Bartiromo’s departure isn’t tied to a move to a rival network, nor is it connected to any White House role at this point, despite ongoing speculation in some circles that she could be under consideration for press secretary.
Known as the Money Honey during her years covering Wall Street live from the New York Stock Exchange floor, Bartiromo joined Fox in 2014 after two decades at CNBC, where she had anchored Closing Bell.
Her interviews with President Trump both in and out of office have drawn criticism from some media observers as notably friendly and largely unchallenging.
