Babar Azam down with fever after Pakistan’s heavy Lord’s Test defeat

LONDON A tense atmosphere reportedly surrounds the Pakistan cricket team’s hotel in London following the team’s heavy 194-run defeat to England in the Lord’s Test and a series of major, unexpected decisions by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

According to sources, Pakistan captain Babar Azam is under considerable pressure following the defeat after scoring just eight and six runs in the Test. The pressure has intensified following the decision to send the head coach and seven players back to Pakistan.

Reports said Babar was suffering from a high fever. Team media manager Naveed Akram Cheema confirmed that the captain was unwell.

Cheema said Babar himself had informed him about the fever, but added that there was no reason to panic or be concerned.

The team media manager said Babar was otherwise fit and there was no cause for concern regarding his fever, adding that he was expected to recover soon.
