Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has alleged that the Taliban have turned Afghanistan into an “Indian colony,” accusing the group of allowing militant elements to operate from its soil.
In a post on social media platform X, the minister said that following the withdrawal of NATO forces, it was expected that Afghanistan would move towards peace and stability, focusing on the welfare of its people and regional harmony.
Allegations of Proxy Role
However, Asif claimed that instead of promoting peace, the Taliban had gathered militants from various parts of the world and facilitated what he described as the export of terrorism.
“Pakistan made every effort to keep the situation normal, directly and through friendly countries.
However, the Taliban became a proxy for India,” he stated.
‘Decisive Response’ to Aggression
The defence minister said Pakistan’s security forces had delivered a decisive response to what he termed aggression from the Afghan Taliban.
Highlighting Pakistan’s past role, Asif pointed to the country’s long-standing support for Afghan refugees and efforts to maintain regional stability.
“Our patience has run out. Now there is an open war,” he said.
His remarks come amid escalating tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, with both sides trading accusations over cross-border attacks and security concerns.
