Exports of dung and cow-dung-based products from India to UAE, Saudi Arabia and Australia have seen a steady rise, with market projected to grow at CAGR of 6.5% between 2025 – 2032
As per 2023–24 data, India exported raw cow dung worth Rs 125 crore and cow dung-based fertilisers valued at Rs 173.7 crore, pushing total exports beyond Rs 400 crore and driving prices higher. In Bengaluru, these products are sold via eco-stores and online platforms. An initial investment of Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh is sufficient, with potential monthly profits of Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh if markets are tapped well.Indian cow dung is seeing strong demand in countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Australia. In 2023–24, India exported dung-based products worth over Rs 400 crore, with these fetching nearly 5 to 10 times higher prices in overseas markets.Beyond manure, cow dung is used to make other useful products such as bio-logs, vermicompost, paper, lamps, and idols. For instance, compressed dung firewood is sold at around Rs 10–15 per kg. These products are increasingly being marketed to eco-conscious consumers in Bengaluru.Cow dung can be converted into biogas or sold as fertiliser to farmers. Under the National Biogas Programme, small units are eligible for government subsidies of around 50%. By supplying cow dung-based fertilisers to agricultural centres, it is possible to earn a monthly income of Rs 1 to Rs 2 lakh.The global manure market is projected to be valued at about USD 803.5 million, or roughly Rs 6700 crore, with India expected to remain the leading exporter. In the international market, high-quality manure is estimated to be priced at around USD 260 per metric tonne in 2026, translating to approximately Rs 21 to Rs 22 per kg.

The manure market is projected to expand at a CAGR of about 6.5% between 2025 and 2032, growing from an estimated USD 803.5 million in 2025 to USD 1,248.6 million by 2032.
