A series of coordinated terrorist attacks across multiple locations in Balochistan were successfully thwarted by Pakistan’s security forces on Wednesday, officials said. The attacks, claimed by the perpetrators as part of a campaign named “Herof 2.0,” failed to achieve any significant impact.
Security sources confirmed that the attacks were carried out by Fitna-al-Hindustan (FAH), a foreign-sponsored network of the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
Despite widespread propaganda circulated by FAH-linked outlets and some Indian media, all attacks were repelled, and control was quickly restored.
Multiple Targets, Coordinated Response
In Quetta’s Saryab Road area, terrorists attempted to attack a police van. Police personnel returned fire immediately, with support from Frontier Corps (FC) troops. Four attackers were killed, and the area was secured.
In Nushki, terrorists launched a fire raid on the FC Headquarters. Alert troops responded promptly, forcing the attackers to retreat without causing damage.
Dalbandin also saw an attempted attack on the FC Headquarters, including at least two explosions.
Security forces quickly cordoned off the area and engaged the attackers, maintaining control throughout clearance operations.
In Kalat, terrorists targeted the Deputy Commissioner’s office and police lines, triggering a firefight.
Security forces responded effectively, preventing further escalation.
Additional attacks were reported in Pasni, targeting a Pakistan Coast Guards facility, and in Gwadar, where a labourers’ colony was attacked.
Both attempts were thwarted by timely police and FC interventions.
Simultaneous grenade and distant fire attacks on security posts in Balicha, Tump, Mastung, and Kharan were also repulsed.
Situation Remains Under Control
Officials confirmed that the overall situation across Balochistan remained under control. Only 2–3 security personnel sustained minor injuries, and no strategic installations were damaged.
Security sources said the attacks followed recent counter-terrorism operations in which over 50 terrorists were eliminated, suggesting the violence was a desperate attempt by the BLA to compensate for losses.
Foreign-Based Leadership, Local Losses
Responsibility for the attacks has been attributed to BLA leaders Bashir Zeb Baloch, Allah Nazar, and exiled Harbiyar Marri, operating from safe havens outside Pakistan, mainly in Afghanistan.
Both the BLA and BLac are proscribed terrorist organizations under Pakistani law, and the BLA is designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization by the United States.
Analysts noted that while BLA leaders remain abroad, local Baloch youth are repeatedly used in high-risk operations, often resulting in their deaths.
Many casualties are later misrepresented by BLA-linked propaganda networks as “enforced disappearances.”
The group’s focus on soft civilian targets, including labourers’ settlements, has further exposed its criminal nature, contradicting its claims of representing Baloch interests.
Failure of ‘Herof 2.0’
Authorities said the “Herof 2.0” campaign was poorly planned and executed, collapsing quickly under the professional response of Pakistan’s security forces. The attacks have underscored the futility of armed violence and the isolation of terrorist networks in Balochistan.
Pakistan’s security forces reaffirmed their commitment to protecting all citizens, particularly vulnerable communities, and to continuing targeted counter-terrorism operations to dismantle foreign-sponsored networks in the province.
Officials stressed that true accountability lies with the BLA’s foreign-based leaders and their handlers, whose actions continue to cost the lives of Baloch youth without bringing any benefit to the people of Balochistan.
