Parliament Budget Session 2026 Live Updates: President Addresses Parliament, Praises Indian Women’s Cricket Team

Budget Session Of Parliament 2026 Live Updates: The Budget Session in Parliament began on Wednesday, with President Draupadi Murmu addressing the joint sitting of both houses, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The Economic Survey will be tabled on Thursday and the Union Budget on February 1.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju earlier made it clear that issues already debated in earlier sessions, including the VB-G RAM G Act and the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, will not be reopened, stressing that “we cannot reverse the gear”.

The government urged parties to raise concerns during the Motion of Thanks and the Budget debate, underlining cooperation and orderly proceedings as priorities for the session’s first phase, which runs till February 13.

The opposition, however, pushed back, arguing that Parliament cannot function as a one-way street. Several parties are demanding structured discussions on electoral reforms, employment guarantees, foreign policy challenges and economic pressures, warning that their voices must be heard if the House is to run smoothly during a crucial budgetary sitting.
