A severe snowstorm has been predicted in Murree, DPO Murree Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer Supra has issued a travel advisory.
The DPO said that there is a possibility of heavy snowfall in Murree from Monday evening to Tuesday evening, tourists and citizens should completely avoid traveling to Murree at night.
He said that due to the drop in temperature, snow on the roads can turn into ‘black ice’ (a hard layer like glass), vehicle brakes stop working on black ice, night travel can be life-threatening.
DPO Murree said that it becomes extremely difficult for snow removal machinery to work in darkness and fog, he said that no vehicle will be allowed to enter Murree without ‘snow chains’ on the tires.
Before leaving, keep the fuel tank of the vehicle full and check the mechanical fitness, ensure that the brakes, wipers, heater and defogger are working properly, reduce speed on snowy roads and maintain a distance of 50 meters from the next vehicle.
Dr. Raza Tanveer said that while using the heater, keep the windows open, lack of oxygen can cause loss of life, ensure the use of fog lights and hazard lights in fog and snowfall.
Do not park the vehicle on highways or slopes so as not to obstruct snow removal, strictly follow the instructions of the police personnel deployed at the check posts, DPO Murree said that in case of any emergency or accident, immediately call the police helpline 15.
