The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FO) on Thursday clarified that the individual recently arrested in Delaware, United States, on charges of weapons possession and attack planning is not of Pakistani origin.

According to the FO spokesperson, 25-year-old Luqmaan Khan is an Afghan national. Earlier media reports incorrectly identified him as a Pakistani-origin youth.

Authorities arrested Khan on November 24, recovering heavy firearms and ammunition from his vehicle and residence.

He allegedly planned an attack targeting the University of Delaware’s Police Department, with related documents seized during the investigation.

Formal charges of illegal possession of a machine gun and planning an attack were filed against him on November 26, and he is scheduled to appear in court on December 11.

Investigators also discovered a handwritten diary detailing plans for a large-scale attack on the campus police department.

The notebook reportedly included a hand-drawn map of the police headquarters, marking entry and exit points, along with alarming phrases such as “kill all” and references to “martyrdom,” raising serious security concerns.

Prosecutors say the suspect appeared fully prepared to carry out the attack, and the equipment found in his possession indicates a serious and potentially catastrophic plot.
