Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced plans to distribute an additional 500,000 solar systems to the poor this year.

Speaking in Sukkur, he revealed that the government had initially decided to distribute 200,000 solar systems under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), with 50,000 already delivered and the remaining set to follow soon.

Furthermore, on the directive of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, an extra 500,000 solar systems will be provided to low-income households later this year, bolstering efforts to expand renewable energy access among the economically disadvantaged.

In related news, the Chief Minister highlighted a waste-to-energy initiative in Karachi.

“Authorities are currently collecting 15,000 tons of waste in the city, with a plan to convert it into 50 megawatts of electricity,” he added.

This project aims to reduce urban waste while contributing to the province’s renewable energy goals, Murad added.

Earlier, Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz launched free Solar Panel Scheme to provide permanent relief to people in electricity bills.

According to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, 100,000 homes will get free solar panels at a cost of Rs10 billion under the scheme.
