Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has described Zionism as a threat to humanity, alleging that many of the crises faced by the Muslim world since the establishment of Israel stem from what he called “Zionist thinking and state policy”.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the defence minister stated that despite Iran’s willingness to agree to a deal, war had been imposed upon Tehran. He claimed that a broader agenda included extending Israeli influence up to Pakistan’s borders.
According to Asif, this alleged strategy seeks to bring Afghanistan, Iran and India onto a shared platform rooted in hostility toward Pakistan, thereby rendering Pakistan’s borders insecure and surrounding the country with adversaries.
The minister said that from the creation of Israel on Palestinian land to the present day, wars and upheavals imposed upon the Islamic world had, directly or indirectly, been driven by Zionist ideology and the Israeli state.
Kh Asif asserted that the global economic system had been under the influence of Zionism for a century and claimed that major world powers were effectively held hostage by it, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday morning.
He said Pakistan remains a nuclear power and that the strength of its armed forces is recognised globally by the grace and support of God.
He paid tribute to the country’s martyrs and veterans, saying their sacrifices had preserved Pakistan’s sovereignty.
The defence minister also offered prayers for those who played a role in making Pakistan a nuclear power and saluted former prime minister Nawaz Sharif for what he described as the courage to conduct nuclear tests.
Reiterating his claim regarding Iran, Asif said that despite Tehran’s agreement to a deal, conflict had been imposed as part of what he characterised as a Zionist-designed agenda.
He added that this agenda sought to bring Israeli influence to Pakistan’s borders and to create a coordinated anti-Pakistan alignment involving Afghanistan, Iran and India, with the ultimate aim of weakening the country and reducing it to dependency.
The defence minister urged the nation’s 250 million citizens, regardless of school of thought or political differences, to understand what he described as a conspiracy and the intentions of Pakistan’s “eternal enemies”.
He prayed for unity within the Muslim world and for the ability to recognise external threats.
Asif concluded by praying for the freedom of Palestine and for Pakistan’s endurance, asking that the country remain secure for eternity and that its defenders be protected and supported.
