Germany’s federal transport authority has ordered BMW to recall more than 330,000 vehicles worldwide over concerns of a potential fire risk, marking the second recall involving the automaker in less than a month.
The recall affects approximately 337,000 vehicles globally, including around 29,000 cars in Germany, according to the country’s motor transport regulator, the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA).
Wiring Issue Identified
The safety concern relates to incorrect routing of dashboard wiring, which could potentially increase the risk of fire.
The affected models include the BMW i5, 5 Series, M5, i7 and 7 Series manufactured between June 2022 and December 2025.
Regulators stated that no incidents linked to the defect have been reported so far.
A BMW spokesperson confirmed the recall figures for Germany but did not immediately verify the global total cited by the KBA.
Second Recall in Weeks
Earlier this month, BMW announced another worldwide recall involving hundreds of thousands of vehicles due to a possible risk of engine starter components sparking a fire.
In late 2024, the German carmaker also recalled around 1.5 million vehicles over a faulty braking system, a move that led the company to lower its annual financial outlook.

The latest recall underscores increasing regulatory scrutiny on vehicle safety and manufacturing quality across the global auto industry.
BMW has not yet detailed the timeline for repairs but is expected to contact affected customers through authorised dealerships.
