Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that unnecessary politics was carried out over the medical treatment of PTI founder Imran Khan. He alleged that while the PTI leadership was kept on board regarding the treatment process, Aleema Khan repeatedly vetoed decisions at various stages.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Naqvi stated that propaganda was spread regarding Imran Khan’s eye condition, whereas the government provided complete medical facilities in accordance with the Constitution and law. He said the government remained in continuous contact with the PTI leadership and also offered a medical examination by a renowned eye specialist.
According to the interior minister, PTI had demanded that Imran Khan be shifted to a hospital for one week. The government responded that if doctors recommended further treatment, the duration of hospitalisation could also be extended. He added that opposition leaders and their nominated doctors were briefed and expressed satisfaction over the treatment process.
Naqvi further said that the government does not wish to politicise the matter but alleged that attempts were made to create unrest in the Red Zone, which were handled effectively. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing court decisions and maintaining law and order.
