KARACHI – Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi admitted that Pakistan possessed complete satellite surveillance of Indian military movements during Operation Sindoor, effectively tracking Indian ships, aircraft, and ground units in real time.
Speaking at presser in New Delhi, Army Chief revealed that Pakistani forces knew exactly which Indian aircraft was flying where, which naval vessel was deployed, and which central military unit was on the move.
The revelation sent shockwaves through India’s defense and strategic circles, raising serious questions about intelligence failures and military secrecy.
While attempting to level accusations against Pakistan, General Dwivedi inadvertently confirmed that Indian forces were operating under the constant watch of Pakistani satellites. According to Indian news agency ANI, the Army Chief conceded that Pakistan’s surveillance capabilities allowed it to monitor Indian military assets with alarming precision.
General Dwivedi acknowledged that Jammu and Kashmir remains highly sensitive, though he claimed the situation is currently under control. He further admitted that Pakistan and China have already established dedicated Rocket Forces, urging India to urgently follow suit, an implicit recognition of India lagging behind its regional rivals in strategic military capabilities.
Defense experts say these remarks not only expose operational vulnerabilities but could also reshape regional power dynamics in South Asia.
Pakistan Air Force destroyed atleast eight Indian fighter jets during intense four-day conflict with India in May last year, which erupted after an attack on tourists in Indian occupied Kashmir. New Delhi falsely blamed Islamabad for attack but provided no evidence, while Islamabad vehemently denied involvement, calling New Delhi’s claims “full of fabrications.”
The aerial and artillery battle saw fighter jets, missiles, and drones on both sides, leaving dozens dead and escalating tensions to dangerous levels. Reciprocal strikes on airbases pushed the two nuclear-armed neighbors to the brink, before US intervention on May 10 finally brokered a ceasefire.
