A Karachi court on Tuesday adjourned proceedings until February 10 in a blasphemy case against Rajab Butt. The accused, who is currently out on interim bail, did not appear in court as his lawyer, Mian Ali Ashfaq, went for Umrah.
The court approved a request to excuse the defendant’s absence and adjourned the hearing to February 10.
The case against Rajab Butt was registered at the Hyderi Market police station, and the accused had previously obtained interim bail from the court.
Last month, a lawyer reportedly assaulted Rajab Butt when he, along with Naniwala, appeared in court.
Authorities confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with police recording statements from eyewitnesses and reviewing CCTV footage.
An FIR was registered by Barrister Mian regarding a “condemnable, brutal, unlawful, and premeditated physical assault” on Rajab Butt at Karachi City Courts, allegedly triggered by unwanted attention from fame-seekers.
The content creators involved are no strangers to legal trouble.
In September 2025, Rajab was booked by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) for allegedly promoting online gambling apps on social media.
Nadeem was also booked by the NCCIA for similar allegations and was arrested in September 2025 for displaying a fake registration number on his car.
In March 2025, a case was registered against Rajab under blasphemy and cybercrime laws following a “religious stir” caused by the launch of his perfume brand, which allegedly mocked Pakistan’s blasphemy law.
In December 2024, Rajab faced legal trouble when he was arrested for illegally keeping a lion cub and weapons at his residence.
He pleaded guilty in January 2025 to owning an undocumented wild animal after accepting the cub as a wedding gift.
