PM emphasised that startups and AI entrepreneurs are the co-architects of India’s future
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a roundtable meeting with Indian AI start-ups at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, on Thursday, ahead of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 scheduled to be held next month. He said it is commendable how these startups are working on diverse fields such as e-commerce, marketing, engineering simulations, material research, healthcare, medical research and more.
Twelve Indian AI start-ups that have qualified for the AI for All: Global Impact Challenge at the upcoming summit participated in the discussion, presenting their innovations and ongoing projects.

It is commendable how these StartUps are working on diverse fields such as e-commerce, marketing, engineering simulations, material research, healthcare, medical research and more,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a post on X.

These start-ups are working across a wide range of domains, including Indian language foundation models, multilingual large language models (LLMs), speech-to-text, text-to-audio and text-to-video technologies, generative AI for 3D content in e-commerce and marketing, engineering simulations, material research, advanced analytics, and healthcare diagnostics and medical research.
The founders praised India’s strong commitment to building a robust artificial intelligence ecosystem, noting that the centre of gravity for AI innovation and deployment is gradually shifting towards India. They said the country now offers a supportive environment for AI development, firmly placing India on the global AI map.
Addressing the participants, the Prime Minister highlighted the transformative potential of artificial intelligence for society and reiterated India’s ambition to play a leading role in the global technology landscape through the India AI Impact Summit. He stressed that AI start-ups and entrepreneurs are key architects of India’s future and that the country possesses both innovation capability and scale for implementation.
The Prime Minister called for the creation of a distinctive Indian AI model based on the vision of “Made in India, Made for the World.” He emphasised that Indian AI systems must be ethical, unbiased, transparent and rooted in strong data privacy principles.
He also urged start-ups to aim for global leadership from India, promoting affordable, inclusive and frugal AI solutions. He added that Indian AI models should reflect local content, indigenous knowledge and regional languages.
The meeting was attended by leaders from Avataar, BharatGen, Fractal, Gan, Genloop, Gnani, Intellihealth, Sarvam, Shodh AI, Soket AI, Tech Mahindra and Zenteiq. Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada were also present.
