RBI Board Meets In Hyderabad, Clears Risk-Based Deposit Insurance System, Reviews Economic Situation

The RBI approves the risk-based deposit insurance framework for banks and reviews the activities of select central office departments.

The 620th meeting of the Reserve Bank of India’s central board of directors was held on Friday at its regional office in Hyderabad. During the meeting, which was chaired by RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra, among the issues reviewed were the current global and domestic economic situation and challenges.

It also approved the risk-based deposit insurance framework for banks. The Board also reviewed the activities of select Central Office Departments and the draft Report on Trend and Progress of Banking in India, 2024-25.

“The 620th meeting of the Central Board of Directors of Reserve Bank of India was held today in Hyderabad under the chairmanship of Sanjay Malhotra, governor,” the RBI said in a statement on Friday.

Deputy Governors T Rabi Sankar, Swaminathan J, Poonam Gupta, Shirish Chandra Murmu and other directors of the central board — Nagaraju Maddirala, secretary of Department of Financial Services; Satish K Marathe, Revathy Iyer, Pankaj Ramanbhai Patel and Ravindra H Dholakia — attended the meeting.
