Thick fog once again blanketed vast areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday, drastically reducing visibility and forcing authorities to shut multiple motorway sections.
Traffic on the M-2 was suspended from Lahore to Hiran Minar interchange, M-3 from Faizpur to Jaranwala, M-4 from Khanewal to Multan, the Lahore–Sialkot motorway, and M-5 from Multan to Rohri.
On the other hand, Lahore, with the AQI recorded at 284, emerged as the second most polluted city on Thursday.
Egyptian capital Cairo was the city where the air quality was extremely hazardous as the AQI in the city stood at 293.
The city topped the list of the world’s most polluted cities.
