Timothée Chalamet sparked speculation when he did not attend the 2025 Met Gala, where his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, wore a stylish outfit.
However, the Dune star has, in his view, a legitimate reason for skipping the fashion gala: basketball.
He is an uber-fan of the New York Knicks, an NBA team, and says their playoff run was more important to him than attending a fashion gala.
“That Knicks run last year, I think that was the most fun period of my life. Those four months, I’m not even kidding. Just the Garden being electric,” he defends his absence without explicitly mentioning the 2025 Met Gala while appearing on the 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony podcast.
It is worth noting that the Academy-nominated actor shared a photo of himself watching a Knicks game against the Boston Celtics while his partner, Kylie, was at the event.
This was enough to spark rumours of a breakup on social media. On top of this, his flat refusal to discuss his romance in a recent Vogue interview only added fuel to the fire.
“I will not talk about’ the relationship,’ he stated, “I don’t say that with any fear, I just don’t have anything to say.”
But to brush off these speculations, the pair, who seem to avoid the limelight as a couple, stepped out together more than once to give ‘all-is-good’ vibes.
