Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar paid a visit to the revered Data Darbar shrine on Friday, accompanied by his son.
Former Punjab Auqaf Secretary Dr Tahir Raza Bukhari also joined the delegation during the visit.
Dar offered Fateha at the Mazar-e-Sharif and prayed for the progress and prosperity of the country. He was then briefed on the ongoing development initiatives currently underway at Data Darbar, one of the most frequently visited spiritual sites in Pakistan.
Officials informed Dar about the Government of Punjab’s major development project being executed on the front side of the shrine. The project—costing Rs2.5 billion—is being completed in collaboration with the Auqaf Department and the Lahore Development Authority (LDA).
According to the briefing, the development works aim to boost security and improve the overall environment around Data Darbar. Once completed, the project is expected to facilitate the large number of daily visitors and strengthen administrative and safety arrangements at the historic complex.
The deputy prime minister expressed satisfaction at the progress and emphasized the government’s commitment to preserving and improving important religious and cultural heritage sites across the country.
