Karachi, a city known for its predominantly warm climate, is finally feeling the onset of its brief winter spell as temperatures dip into single digits a rare occurrence for the metropolis.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the temperature at Jinnah Terminal and nearby areas dropped to 8.9°C, marking one of the coldest mornings of the season.
The Met Office stated that Karachi is expected to remain dry with cool nights over the next 24 hours.
Humidity in the city currently stands at 42%, while the daytime temperature is likely to rise to around 28°C.
Cool northeasterly winds are blowing at a speed of 3km per hour, the PMD added, noting that the minimum temperature recorded earlier was 12.5°C.
Meanwhile, Quetta and its surrounding areas, have reported extremely cold and dry weather with mercury dropping below the freezing point and recorded as low as -6°C in Balochistan’s capital.
In Kalat and Ziarat, it fell even below to -7°C.
