Zach Bryan is opening up about his personal journey and mental health, revealing that he has been alcohol-free for the past two months.
The Something in the Orange singer, 29, shared the update on Instagram on Tuesday, November 18, explaining that his decision to quit drinking on a 20-day solo motorcycle trip across the United States.
‘Being in the military for a decade and then thrown into a spotlight that I hadn’t fully comprehended the scope of, had some subconscious effects on me as a person.’ Bryan wrote.
Bryan admitted that he used alcohol to cope with his ‘perpetual discontent,’ and that he was ‘always reaching for alcohol, not for the taste, but because there was a consistent black hole in me that always needed its void filled,’ he continued.
He also revealed that he sought therapy to work through his ‘toxic relationship with booze’ and how he copes ‘with major life changes.’
Toward the end of his post, Bryan said that his family ‘supported every step’ he took. After two months sober, Bryan says that he now feels ‘great.’.
Bryan’s announcement arrives amid a string of recent controversies. His 2024 breakup with podcaster Brianna Chickenfry LaPaglia has attracted media attention, , with LaPaglia accusing him of emotional mistreatment during their relationship.
In addition, a video from September showing Bryan in a physical altercation with fellow country musician Gavin Adcock went viral, following months of public disagreements between the two artists.
