Authorities suspended internet services across Quetta on Friday, citing security concerns. The move came on the recommendation of the Balochistan government.
The provincial Home Department reportedly sent a formal request to the federal government to temporarily block internet services in the city.
Sources within the Home Department confirmed that the internet shutdown was prompted by security considerations.
Grenade lobbed at SSP Highway office
Unidentified miscreants lobbed a hand grenade at the office of SSP Highway Police in Dera Murad Jamali on Friday.
The attackers fled the scene after throwing the grenade which hit the office’s gate, causing no injuries, sources in the police said.
