Lahore weather: Heavy Monsoon rain lashes Punjab capital; more showers expected


LAHORE – Rain and thunderstorm lashed parts of Lahore and Punjab early Tuesday, with waterlogging reported in parts of the metropolis after rains.

Pakistan Met department predicted a cloudy sky with moderate rain today on Tuesday with the temperatures likely to hover around 34-36 degrees Celsius.

Met Office said rain-wind and thundershower is likely in Lahore, Murree, Galliyat, Pothohar region, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, and Toba Tek Singh.

Several other cities including Jhang, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Layyah, Bhakkar, Multan, Khanewal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Kot Addu and Rahimyar Khan will also receive showers.

Amid fresh spell of rain, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab issued a warning, advising all relevant departments to remain alert.

Officials stressed importance of preparedness and directed all departments to be ready for any potential emergencies. The District Emergency Operation Centers in Punjab have been activated, with continuous monitoring from the PDMA control room.

The recent bout of monsoon also disrupted major motorways, including M2, M3, and the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, causing slippery road conditions.
