Shikhar Dhawan, a 14-year veteran of the Indian cricket team, has announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket.

Dhawan made the announcement on social media, citing the importance of moving forward in life.

He leaves behind a legacy of 24 international centuries, including 17 in ODIs and seven in Tests, across 269 matches.

Dhawan retires as a prominent figure in ODI cricket, joining an elite group of players who have scored over 5000 runs with a 40-plus average and 90-plus strike rate.

He was a key player in India’s ODI lineup, leading the team’s scoring charts in major tournaments and forming a successful opening partnership with Rohit Sharma.

Dhawan also had a successful domestic career, playing a pivotal role in Delhi’s Ranji Trophy victory and being the top run-scorer for India at the Under-19 World Cup.
