ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif has recorded his statement in the 2019 Toshakhana reference filed against him, the prosecutor informed an accountability court on Thursday.
The case also involves former president Asif Ali Zardari and former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. It centers on allegations that the individuals received luxury vehicles from the Toshakhana (gifts repository).
Today’s proceedings, presided over by Judge Muhammad Bashir, witnessed the appearance of key figures, including Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Qazi Misbah, Arshad Tabriz, NAB prosecutor Irfan Bhola, and Sohail Arif. Rana Irfan, another lawyer representing Nawaz Sharif, was also present during the hearing.
The prosecutor told the court that the former prime minister had submitted his reply. He said the investigation will now be taken further, for which some time was required.

The defense counsel informed the court that a questionnaire was prepared in 2019 but could not be provided to Nawaz because of his ill health. However, he said corresponding answers to the questions put forth had now been provided.
He added that the reference filed presents no record of the vehicle mentioned to have been returned, or any documentation proving the PML-N supremo had put in a request seeking any vehicle.
The court, faced with the challenges presented, inquired about NAB’s course of action. The prosecutor responded that a thorough examination of the statement would precede any subsequent steps.
The court adjourned the hearing of the Toshakhana case, scheduling the next session for December 20.
