U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived Friday morning in Israel, where he is expected to push Israel to implement “humanitarian pauses” in Gaza to facilitate aid getting in and foreign citizens getting out. Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah will deliver a speech Friday, his first since the war in Gaza, as an escalation in fighting between the militant group and Israel at the Lebanese border raises fears of a wider conflict. In Gaza, after Israeli raids ramped up into a ground invasion, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces, said troops were “engaged in face-to-face combat” with Hamas militants.
